Reach for Change is an organisation that believes that one voice makes a difference and that everyone has the potential to create change. The vision is to create lasting, systematic change for children through social entrepreneurship and through promoting universal children’s rights.
Reach for Change invests in social entrepreneurs who help children to achieve a better life. The foundation and its partners contribute the funds, business expertise, media exposure and marketing. The social entrepreneurs contribute their power of initiative and an idea that can change the world.
Reach for Change is an independent non-profit foundation founded in 2010 by the Hugo Stenbeck Foundation together with MTG, Kinnevik, Korsnäs, Metro, Tele2 and Transcom. In its first year alone Reach for Change received over 2,000 applications from social entrepreneurs with ideas on how they can help children play their way to a better future in Sweden. Each year new social entrepreneurs are invited to apply and current ones are reviewed.
Once selected, the social entrepreneurs are invited to take part in an incubator programme that will help them to reach out to as many children as possible. They may receive pay funding up to three years, but also (and perhaps most importantly) the support of some of the Kinnevik group's best employees, as well as access to expertise in business development, marketing, law and communications.
Having started in Sweden in 2010, and Ghana and Russia in 2011 - 2012, Reach for Change is steadily moving into more markets and expanding its network of social entrepreneurs who are changing the world for children. During 2012 the organisation took its first steps in Tanzania, Senegal, Rwanda, Chad and the Democratic Republic of the Congo, and expanded into Kazakhstan in May 2013.
