Nõmme United '97 to represent Estonia in the MTG United for Peace Cup in Oslo

The Estonian MTG United for Peace tournament was held in the grounds of FC Flora’s Lilleküla Stadium on Saturday, 28 August. The event attracted 12 teams, all of which played high quality football in a good spirit. Ultimately, Nõmme United '97 emerged as winners and now go on to represent their country in the MTG United for Peace Cup in Oslo later this year.

During the event there were various activities for the children taking part, such as practicing their penalty taking skills as well trying to score a goal from a corner. The famous Estonian football star Mart Poom showed his support to the charity by coaching one of the participating teams, and also took the time to sign autographs and talk to all the children.

The event climaxed with Nõmme United '97 taking on FC Levadia in the final, and it was a game that Nõmme United '97 really dominated – they eventually won 6-0. Event organiser Kristofer Kask had this to say, “The right team won. Nõmme United '97 played solid and skilful football during the entire tournament. I believe Nõmme United '97 will play very well in the MTG United for Peace Cup in Oslo and have a great chance of bringing the trophy back to Estonia."

The top scorer of the tournament was Peter Klein from Nõmme United and the best goalkeeper was Sten-Marten Vahi, from the same team. However, the footballer named player of the tournament was Ioan Yakovlev from FC Levadia. More info about the Estonian event can be found http://mtgunitedforpeaceinestonia.wordpress.com/
