MTG’s operations in several countries have contributed to raise money for those affected by the 7.0-magnitude earthquake that devastated Haiti.
On January 23, TV3 in Slovenia, Sweden, Denmark and Norway aired Hope for Haiti – 
the star-studded telethon arranged by Hollywood actor George Clooney and Haitian born musician Wycleaf Jean. The US produced gala featured many established acts such Beyonce, Jay-Z, Rihanna, Shakira, Madonna and Bruce Springsteen.
TV3 Slovenia, which donated various spots for Unicef, broadcast the gala live at 02:00 local time, while its sister channels in Scandinavia aired a recorded version the following day – ensuring the gala could reach more people and make a greater impact despite the time difference.
The programme aired at 13:25 in Sweden and served as a follow-up to the various crawlers that aired the previous night on the same channel. These called on people to donate money to help fund the Red Cross’s activities on the devastated island. Further donations were secured from Red Cross and Plan banners on TV3, TV6 and TV8’s websites.
In addition, MTG Radio Sweden has donated a total of 5,325 spots to the Red Cross which is raising money for victims of the earthquake.
TV3 Norway aired Hope for Haiti at 20:00 and featured crawlers during the broadcast. The channel is also donating airtime for Plan, Care and Unicef Norway between 23 January and 1 February – with a possible extension after that. It also features banners for Save the Children on TV3, Viasat 4 and P4’s websites as well teletext services.
TV3 Denmark meanwhile aired the gala at 20:22 and featured various web banners for the Red Cross. The channel aired crawlers on the night of the broadcast, as well as the previous night – encouraging viewers to donate money for the Red Cross and six other organisations working to make a difference in Haiti.
Also, TV3 Lithuania has donated air time for spots from Save the Children and highlighted the crisis on its news show, during which they have called on people donate money for both Save the Children and Red Cross.
In Bulgaria Nova TV aired crawlers during the Late Show with Ivan and Andrey. Viewers were encouraged to donate money for the Red Cross.
