Conference call to present financial results for the fourth quarter and full year 2011

Modern Times Group MTG AB (publ.) (‘MTG’ or ‘the Group’), the international entertainment broadcasting group, will publish its financial results for the fourth quarter and full year 2011 at 13:00 CET, on Thursday, 9 February 2012. MTG will host a conference call at 15:00 CET the same day. The teleconference will be hosted by Hans-Holger Albrecht, President and Chief Executive Officer, and Mathias Hermansson, Chief Financial Officer.

MTG signs agreement to acquire LNT free-TV group in Latvia

Modern Times Group MTG AB (publ.) (‘MTG’ or ‘the Group’), the international entertainment broadcasting group, today announced that it has signed an agreement to acquire 100% of AS Latvijas Neatkarīgā Televīzija (‘LNT’) in Latvia for an undisclosed cash consideration. LNT is the second largest free-TV operator in Latvia, and broadcasts national channel LNT, Russian language channel TV5 and entertainment channel LMK. The closing of the transaction is subject to regulatory approval by the Latvian Competition Council.

MTG to recognize SEK 3.2 billion of one-off costs in Q4 2011 results

Modern Times Group MTG AB (publ.) (‘MTG’ or ‘the Group’), the international entertainment broadcasting group, today announced that it will recognise approximately SEK 3,191 million of one-off costs in its financial results for the fourth quarter and full year 2011. This follows the recent completion of the Group’s annual asset impairment tests. The majority of these costs are non-cash and primarily arise from the impairment of goodwill relating to the Group’s Bulgarian broadcasting assets. The one-off costs also include the impact of the decision to close down the Group’s loss making free-TV operation in Slovenia in the coming months.

MTG launches new ‘Viasat Film’ brand and 4 new HD movie channels

Modern Times Group MTG AB (publ.) (‘MTG’ or ‘the Group’), the international entertainment broadcasting group, today announced that it is marking the 20th anniversary of the launch of Viasat’s pay-TV services with the rebranding of the TV1000 movie channel brand to Viasat Film across the Nordic region. In addition, Viasat will also launch four new Viasat Film premium pay-TV HD movie channels in Sweden, Norway, Denmark and Finland on 1 March 2012. Viasat will now broadcast a total of 11 thematic premium pay-TV movie channels across the region. A major pan-Nordic marketing campaign will shortly be launched to support the rebranding and drive uptake of the new channels amongst cable, satellite and IPTV subscribers across the region.

MTG prolongs exclusive Baltic broadcast rights to IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship

Modern Times Group MTG AB (publ.) (‘MTG’ or ‘the Group’), the international entertainment broadcasting group, today announced it has prolonged its exclusive live Baltic broadcasting rights to the IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship until 2017. The rights include, but are not limited to, broadcast coverage on free-TV, pay-TV, mobile devices and the internet. The rights have been acquired from Infront Sports & Media.

Changes to Management & Operating Structure

Modern Times Group MTG AB (publ.) (‘MTG’ or ‘the Group’), the international entertainment broadcasting group, today announced that it has reorganized its management and operating structure with the appointment of Jørgen Madsen as Executive Vice President of Nordic Broadcasting and Anders Nilsson as Executive Vice President of Central European Broadcasting. Irina Gofman continues in her role as Executive Vice President of Russian & CIS Broadcasting and the central and east European pay-TV channels business. The 9 strong executive management team reporting to Group President and CEO Hans-Holger Albrecht also comprises Mathias Hermansson (Chief Financial Officer), Martin Lewerth (Executive Vice President of Pay-TV and Technology), Patrick Svensk (Executive Vice President of Content), Marc Zagar (Executive Vice President of Finance), Petra Colleen (Executive Vice President of Administration), and Laurence Miall-d’Août (Executive Vice President) who is taking maternity leave before returning to a new and yet to be announced role. All of the executives mentioned above were already members of the executive management team and have worked at MTG for a combined average of 11 years.

MTG acquires exclusive distribution rights to NHL ice hockey

Modern Times Group MTG AB (publ.) (‘MTG’ or ‘the Group’), the international entertainment broadcasting group, today announced that it has acquired the exclusive distribution rights to the National Hockey League (NHL) in Sweden, Norway, Denmark and Finland from Medge Consulting. The rights include, but are not limited to, exclusive live coverage on free-TV, pay-TV and the internet, until the end of the 2015-16 season. MTG has held rights to NHL games since October 2009.

MTG launches pay-TV channels in Uganda and Tanzania

Modern Times Group MTG AB (publ.) (‘MTG’ or ‘the Group’), the international entertainment broadcasting group, today announced that it has launched its documentary pay-TV channels Viasat History and Viasat Nature in Uganda and Tanzania, following the signing of a distribution agreement with digital terrestrial television operator StarTimes. StarTimes will also include the channels in its pay-TV offering in Nigeria.
